Fiery Spike Aphelandra

Aphelandra aurantica

The “aurantiaca” part of it’s name actually translates to “orange-red”.  Fiery Spike is an evergreen plant that generally blooms in the winter, keeping it’s colorful spike for weeks. Only reaching 1 foot tall, it does well as a houseplant or on a patio. If outdoors, this shrub prefers a location with partial to full shade.
