Loquat

To 20-30 feet tall. The loquat fruit is juicy and firm with a mild sweet taste. When ripe the fruit is bright yellow and has an easy to peel thin velvety skin. It is delicious eaten fresh and can also be prepared in many ways, including jams, preserves, cake fillings, and served in fruit salads. The tree is vigorous, enjoying most locations here but fruits best in the upslope areas. Loquat can fruit several times a year. There are two improved cultivars available ‘Golden Nugget’ and ‘Mammoth’.
